Homemade saltine crackers
Yields: 0 of flour used

1 cup all purpose flour (you can also use wheat or cornmeal)
2 tablespoons melted butter
4 to 8 tablespoons water (varies with the type of flour you use)
½ teaspoon salt + additional for sprinkling to your taste

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix the flour, salt and melted butter with electric mixer adding 1 T of water at a time until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.

Roll dough out onto a baking or pizza stone. Cut into “cracker” size with a pizza cutter, ravioli cutter or a sharp knife.

Sprinkle additional salt over the dough to your taste.

Puncture each “cracker” with a fork several times to prevent bubbling.

Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown (time varies with the type of flour used)

Turn off the oven but leave the crackers on the stone in the oven for an additional 20 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

You can vary the flavor by replacing adding about a T of dry onion soup mix or dried grated cheese to the flour before adding the water and/or replacing the sprinkled salt with the dry grated cheese.
